Designing Heating and Cooling Systems in Large Buildings

Have you ever wondered what goes into a heating or air conditioning system for a large office building or another large building like a mall or a school? My name is Evelyn, and I am an HVAC architect. I design heating and air conditioning systems for large, corporate buildings. Making sure that a large building with many rooms or offices is efficiently heated and cooled is a very large job and is much more complicated than simply heating or cooling a home. This blog will educate the reader on how heating and cooling jobs this large are designed and completed.

What To Expect When You Have Your Air Conditioner Replaced

Nicole Jacobs

There will come a time when your air conditioner fails. At that point -- or maybe even before -- you will need to have it replaced. This can be a somewhat scary and unnerving process if you've never had a major HVAC appliance replaced before. Here's a look at what you can expect.

Your HVAC contractors will recommend several AC models

Some homeowners are under the impression that they need to shop around for an air conditioner, compare 100 different models, and know which one they want when the contractor arrives. This is not quite how it works. Most contractors only work with one or two air conditioner manufacturers, so they won't give you an endless choice of air conditioners. Plus, they will do much of the work for you, recommending two or three that they think would work well for your home. So in the end, you will only need to choose between a couple of units, not hundreds.

The installation should only take a day or two

If you already have air conditioning, replacing your current unit with a new one should not take too much time or effort. Your HVAC contractor can generally leave the existing ducts and vent pipes in place. They just take the old AC equipment out and put new equipment in. Usually, they can complete this task in a day. Sometimes, it might take two days if they have to move the thermostat or re-arrange a small section of the ductwork.

There are usually payment plans available

If you cannot pay for an air condition up-front, which is nothing to be ashamed of because it is a costly appliance, most HVAC companies offer financing. You can make payments over 6 or 12 months to make the air conditioner and installation more affordable.

You don't always need to be there

If you have to be at work on the day the HVAC contractors will be working, this is not usually an issue. As long as you do not mind them working in your home when you are not there, they won't mind doing so. Just make sure they have your number and that you pick up the phone if they call with any questions during the day.

If you have any lingering concerns about having our new AC installed, check out sites like http://www.comfortsolutionsutah.com and ask the contractor you plan to hire. They will usually be happy to tell you all there is to know about their processes and procedures.
