Designing Heating and Cooling Systems in Large Buildings

Have you ever wondered what goes into a heating or air conditioning system for a large office building or another large building like a mall or a school? My name is Evelyn, and I am an HVAC architect. I design heating and air conditioning systems for large, corporate buildings. Making sure that a large building with many rooms or offices is efficiently heated and cooled is a very large job and is much more complicated than simply heating or cooling a home. This blog will educate the reader on how heating and cooling jobs this large are designed and completed.

3 Ways To Stay Cool This Summer

Nicole Jacobs

Summer is often a wonderful time of year. The nice sunny weather allows for all sorts of fun outdoor activities. However, time spent indoors at home can be very uncomfortable if you feel hot and overheated. Luckily, there are lots of easy ways that you can keep yourself and your family nice and cool.

 1. Hire An Air Conditioning Contractor

Hiring an air conditioning contractor is by far the very best way to keep your home cool and comfortable this summer. Not only can they install your new air conditioner and get it all set up for you but they can also give you tips to help you reap the maximum benefits from it. They can do this by advising you on the best temperature to keep it set on as well as other useful tips. In order to keep your air conditioner running at peak efficiency, make sure the air conditioner's filter is changed occasionally. Your air conditioning contractor can let you know how often this should be done.

2. Stay Well Hydrated

This tip may seem obvious, but it is very effective so certainly worth mentioning here. Staying well hydrated can truly work wonders in helping you not get overheated during those hot summer days. If you are not really sure what the ideal amount of water is for you, check with your doctor and they can let you know. One trick that often works well to increase water intake is to always keep a large bottle or jug of water near you and keep sipping on it all throughout the day. You can even get ones that have motivational sayings that encourage you to keep on drinking all day!

3. Close Your Curtains and Blinds

Keeping your curtains and blinds closed is also a great way to help keep your house cool. The reason for this is that when you leave curtains and blinds open, that lets sunlight into rooms and helps warm them up. That can be very beneficial in fall or winter but it is the exact opposite of what you want happening in the summer! Room darkening curtains can work especially well at keeping sunlight out of your home. If you have young children, please be sure to use either curtains or cordless mini blinds as blinds with cords can be a major safety hazard.

Feeling overheated can cause you and your loved ones to feel extremely uncomfortable. Not only that but it can cause health problems and be downright dangerous! Fortunately, trying one or more of these tips should go a really long way in helping to keep your home nice and cool all summer long.
